Every term the product uses, in one place.
Academic structure
ProgramA degree or school class — the top of the curriculum tree. Courses hang off it.
SubjectA curriculum area within a program.
CourseOne taught unit for one cohort in one term. The container for everything else.
SectionA group of students taught together. Sections are linked to courses; enrolment usually follows the link rather than being set per student.
StrandA thematic thread running through a syllabus. Extraction identifies these before it proposes gates.
Learning outcomeWhat a student should be able to do. Extracted from the syllabus and mapped to gates and questions; the basis of attainment reporting.
GateA checkpoint in the course. The unit content is generated for, mastery is recorded against, and prerequisites are declared between.
LessonOne teaching session inside a gate.
Measurement
Bloom levelRemember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, create. Carried by every question and targeted by every gate.
Bloom ceilingThe highest Bloom level a student has scored at least 50% on within a gate.
DIKWData, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom — a four-step reading of the Bloom axis for where six levels is too fine.
MasteryMarks earned over marks possible for a gate, as a percentage, using each question’s most recent attempt.
Deficiency thresholdThe mastery percentage below which remediation triggers. 60% by default, configurable per course.
VelocityHow a student’s mastery in a gate has moved over time — the trend rather than the snapshot.
AttainmentOutcome-level achievement rolled up for accreditation reporting.
Assessment
QuestionMCQ, true/false, short answer or open-ended. Carries marks, a Bloom level and concept tags.
DistractorA wrong MCQ option. Generated from known misconceptions, so a wrong answer is diagnostic rather than random.
Quiz groupA set of questions mapped to a gate and its outcomes.
AssessmentA scheduled, configured, published quiz group. Quiz, midterm, final, assignment, adaptive test or practice.
AttemptOne student sitting one assessment; decomposes into per-question attempts.
Exam modeA locked-down attempt: server-side timer, full-screen enforcement, and tab switches recorded as events.
Open QuizA quiz published to a public link, takeable by guests outside the institution, optionally proctored.
Paper QuizA printed question paper; scripts are photographed, OCR-ed, graded against the extracted answer sheet, and overridable.
HUC rubricA criterion-and-level rubric for long-form answers, extracted from an uploaded marking scheme.
RemediationA targeted quiz assembled from a failed gate’s prerequisites.
Platform
ExtractionTurning an uploaded syllabus into strands, outcomes and gates.
Review ExtractedThe screen where a faculty member corrects and approves that structure before anything is generated from it.
Generation jobBackground work producing lesson plans, scripts, questions or materials. Durable across deploys.
GroundingThe rule that generated content must trace to source spans in the supplied document. Generation fails loudly rather than inventing.
Materials studioThe per-lesson generators: mind map, infographic, podcast, flashcards, slide deck, simulations.
Socratic scriptA four-stage teaching script — Hook, Discovery, Concept Build, Application.
Voice FeedbackAutomated phone calls to a section that collect spoken feedback and return transcripts.
TenantOne institution. Isolated at the data layer, optionally on its own subdomain.
