Satisfaction
What students and faculty actually say, aggregated from voice responses and surveys.
Where it comes from
Chiefly Voice Feedback: automated calls that ask a section a specific question and return transcripts. Because it is a phone call rather than a form, response rates are far higher than a survey emailed at the end of term.
Transcripts are analysed for sentiment and recurring keywords, so a theme raised by twenty students across three sections is visible without reading two hundred replies.
Reading it honestly
Sentiment is a summary, not evidence. When a score moves, open the transcripts behind it. The sentence a student actually said is worth more than the aggregate, and it is two clicks away.
Signals worth acting on
- The same complaint from multiple sections taught by different people — that is structural, not personal.
- A sharp drop confined to one section mid-term — something specific happened; find out what.
- Complaints about pace that coincide with a cold column in that course’s mastery heatmap — those two views are describing the same event.
- Feedback disputing an attendance record. It is advisory information, deliberately kept distinct from the official register, but it is worth checking.
